On Saturday, June 27 the boats left the docks early in the morning, before sun up, to get out to the fishing grounds. Once they traveled there and started to eat some breakfast under the morning sun, the bite came on. Blue fin tunas are still populating the waters off the Virginia coastline. many boats caught and released these beautiful creatures of the deep. Some of the fish were "boated" and put in the fish box to become someone's dinner once they hit land! The tunas that hit the dock were all under a hundred and fifteen pounds. The king mackeral fishing is still strong as well as the dolphin fishing. Some of the dolphins were gaffers, meaning that the mate had to use the GAFF to secure getting the larger fish into the boat.
